Christel Fakhry Commits to Chicago State University: A Milestone for Senegalese Tennis and Teranga Sports Agency
Teranga Sports Agency is proud to announce that Christel Fakhry, one of Senegal’s most promising young tennis talents, has officially committed to Chicago State University, an NCAA Division I program with a growing reputation in collegiate tennis. Chicago State confirmed its rise by winning the Horizon League Championship in 2024, securing a spot in the prestigious NCAA Tournament and showcasing the competitive environment Christel is joining.
Christel’s achievement to play D1 is more than a milestone — it represents a significant step forward for Senegalese tennis and a powerful example of how far dedicated athletes can go when they’re given the right opportunities. Her commitment includes a very comprehensive athletic scholarship, reflecting both her level of play and the confidence Chicago State has placed in her potential.
A Rising Senegalese Talent Ready for the Next Level
Over the past few years, Christel has established herself as one of the most technically complete and mentally resilient juniors in West Africa. She represents Senegal in the Billie Jean King Cup, contributing to the Senegal Women’s National Team that has a very promising future on the continent — hopefully mirroring the recent success of the men’s team, which reached the Group II playoffs after their historic Group III victory in Zimbabwe. Her competitive instinct makes her a natural fit for the intensity of Division 1 tennis.
Christel has also benefited from competing at home in the Senegal ITF Junior J30 and J60 events, tournaments that played a key role in her development by giving her the chance to grow in a familiar and supportive environment while earning international ranking points. These events reflect how Dakar is rapidly becoming a key destination for junior tennis in Africa — a place where young athletes can showcase their talent, gain exposure, and unlock new opportunities through the sport. With the city set to host the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, Dakar’s role as a growing hub for international sport is becoming even stronger, creating broader pathways and visibility for talented athletes across the region. This progress is made possible by the work of the Senegalese Tennis Federation (FST), whose continued investment in hosting international events and expanding player pathways is helping drive the rise of tennis in Senegal and across the continent.
Why Chicago State University Chose Her
Chicago State’s coaching staff was quick to highlight Christel’s athleticism, high tennis IQ, and leadership qualities — characteristics that fit the culture of a program that recently achieved major conference success and wants to reiterated in the Spring 2026.
With world-class facilities and a competitive schedule, CSU will give Christel the perfect platform to grow her game, earn her Finance degree, and compete at the highest collegiate level possible.
A Win for the Agency
Christel’s commitment also reflects the mission of Teranga Sports Agency: connecting African talent, as well as talents worldwide, with international academic and athletic opportunities. From structuring her recruiting profile to coordinating communication with collegiate programs, TSA worked alongside Christel through every step of the placement process. Her successful placement demonstrates the effectiveness of TSA’s approach.
We provide personalized guidance based on each athlete’s academic, athletic, and personal goals; high-quality scouting presentations, highlight editing, and direct communication with coaches; as well as a deep understanding of NCAA requirements, scholarship processes, and admissions.
As Christel prepares to join Chicago State University, she carries the pride of Senegal and the belief of everyone who has supported her journey. Teranga Sports Agency is honored to play a part in this new chapter and will continue to follow her development.
Her story serves as inspiration for the next generation of athletes who dream of combining high-level sports with world-class education.
Congratulations, Christel ! The journey continues and the best is yet to come.
